Registry Easy

Installation:
Installing this product was a haste, as we didn't encounter any problems during that part of the program. After the installation finished, we started Registry Easy.


Features:
Apart from scanning your system's registry and getting rid of any errors it detects, Registry Easy allows you to make a backup of the registry very easily - although it doesn't have an option to perform that task automatically, so you'll have to do it by yourself every time.

This goes for the rest of the program's functions, too - there is no scheduler present at all, so you can't use Registry Easy for constant intervention-free maintenance of your system. You can also create restore points from within the program, so you can fall back to them in case something goes wrong. Though this task can't be performed automatically, so you have to remember to do it every time. Of course, it's advisable to always create such points, because fiddling with the registry is often bound to produce errors.


Interface:
The interface is nicely executed, with standard navigation elements. The menu on the left is self-explanatory and you can make your way through it easily. A big plus of the program is that it offers a huge variety of settings for scanning and removing errors, so your scans are highly customizable - and the program as a whole is very flexible.

You can manage your startup programs from within Registry Easy, and also configure the layout of Internet Explorer - by adding/removing toolbars, menus, etc. The program can also reset Internet Explorer to its default settings if it causes you any problems. 

Ease of use:
Using the program is easy, though some of the options will require a bit more experience from the user. Beginners can still navigate the program easily though, and make use of its basic features. Advanced users will enjoy the level of customization the program offers.

Some of the menus feel rather cluttered though, and are full of options that would be far more accessible if they were grouped together in sub-menus.


Safety:
The scanner is very good, and it found 1309 problems on our test machine, which is one of the best numbers we've encountered so far. It offers a wide variety of options to perform on the encountered errors, and can even uninstall software completely. It also offers the option to search for duplicate files and remove them.

A nice feature is that you are given the choice to manually fix every error found after the scan, or have Registry Fix automatically pick the best choice for every one - though we found it's usually better to intervene and "push" the program in the right direction.

Registry Easy also comes with an Active X blocker that protects your Internet Explorer from malicious software, though we're not sure how well it performs.


Helpdesk/support:
The support of the program is okay, and the documentation is well-written and plentiful. The program offers online support as well.


Conclusion:
We find Registry Easy to be an overall good program, though it could do with some reorganization of the menus for faster access, grouping some options together. But the good scanning engine makes up for that and makes Registry Easy a good choice.
